Man Who Moved a Mountain by Richard C. Davids

The story of how Bob Childress build a rock church here in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and changed a 1920's culture of violence and revenge into a Christian Community is engagingly told in this wonderful book.  Bob's son, Paul, with his wife Anna,  still worship today in this mountain church. If you're lucky enough to find him, Paul tells a firsthand story of what it was like growing up as a son of Bob Childress! Bob, and many original congregation members, rest beneath marble in the adjoining churchyard. The mountaineers who fought and died on Buffalo Mountain's Stomping Ground, now lie in it's early morning shadow.

The book can be previewed on the Amazon.com site and used copies are generally available at little cost.  It's a wonderful story of who we are, where we came from, and how we've changed.
